Just to add to your description of indians, We have people like Bobby Jindal of indian origin who doesnt care about his own roots and his own people but would do anything for his own selfish political career.(Even change religon and change name). Shame on you Mr Jindal.
Based on what Zoe Lofgren said in the video interview it is clear that no piece meal changes will be entertained. Courtesy of the media (read: Lou Dobbs) and the hispanic representation in the Congress/Senate any legal immigration effort is held at gun-point. In my opinion all changes will be rolled up into CIR, which may pass as late as 2010. Be it Obama or McCain, they have bigger issues to address before worrrying about immigration and that to legal immigration. Both have to live up to poll promises and immigration reform features only as a lip-service when both speak on the campaign trail. Bringing the troops home, addressing issues with economy, and solving the energy needs will be prioririty number one for the new President.

We have shamelessly displayed our differences based on cultural backgrounds/needs. Sardar Patel's dream of "Ek akhand bharat" (one united India) seems to reverberate only when India plays Pakistan in a game of cricket. I wonder if people such as Vinod Khosla, Vinod Dham, Arun Netravali, Indra Nooyi understand or are are atleast cognizant of the issues their community is facing. For a wild second, imagine the above four making a few phone calls. I bet the impact will be huge.
Congratulating ourselves for small achievements and patting each other the back for things such as two year EAD extension, etc is great but the celebrations have to stop and we need to focus on CIR. Immigrationvoice is a great organization and I will not take away anything from it. That said, collecting a few hundred thousand, making phone calls, and sending flowers is going to do jack-shit. We need representation on the corridors of power. That's where the battle is.
Finally anybody who calls the D.C rally a success needs to go easy on the weed. I was there and I can tell you, it was pathetic. Compare that to the L.A rally by the hispanic community. On aug 9 th, USCIS nebraska center issued a total of 4063 receipt nos for 485, EAD, and APs.

Hello All,
I have applied for PIO card for my son (who is US citizen) a month ago. We need to travel to India in end of Jan 2011 (have 1 more month). I am not sure when i would get my PIO card. Not sure if I would need to apply for ENTRY VISA to India for my son. I concern is I would have to also send out his original passport along with VISA application. I am worried if it might get lost. Q's -
1 Does any one have idea how long it took to get the entry visa?
2. Has anyone applied for entry visa and has any nightmares like loosing passport etc?

SpringFlower: Can u share which state/city your FP is scheduled in? I think people in crowded places like Bay area, CA get FPs later than less crowded areas.
We got FP notices for me & my wife on 01-25-08. Finger printing date is Feb 6th, 2008. Same date, same time for both of us. Just perfect!

Are you sure about this? That sucks! I always thought you were eligible for SS after you accrue 40 points....basically you get 4 points for every year of work. If you look at your SS report that's sent out before your b'day you will see the points you have accrued.
I thought 40 points was the only requisite; wasn't aware that you had to be a US citizen. Can you please verify this information?

I applied in NSC 485/EAD/AP on July 27th. The case was transfered to CSC. 485 Application was then transfered to TSC from CSC but EAD and AP are being processed in CSC.

Seems like everyone losing hope including core - as someone else said above its really sad to see this. Please dont lose hope at this critical moment else all of our efforts for last two years will go waste.
I cant imagine how much time/effort has been put into this effort by core members (as a relatively inactive member I myself could have easily spent several hundred hours on these forums in last year and half; and atleast some time in calling/faxing etc.). After all these efforts and seeing the current bill its understandable to get deeply disappointed. But dont lose hope yet. Its not over.

All of us were also thinking that we are in a better position to introduce and enact amendments in this congress. We still have time (2 weeks) for amendments - why are we thinking about alternate arrangements and slowly losing hope. Does this show our level of confidence now or this thread is meant for some light hearted fun?

not "most"!! only few have a wait of 3-4 years, most have a wait of over a decade....the numbers of applications pending at AOS stage at USCIS is scaryLook at the number of people who posted messages to this thread .... even if you say 4 times that number of people posted messages to WhiteHouse.gov it is no where close to the numbers we need .... Lets not kid ourselves - Unless there is a miracle - most of us are looking at aleast another 3-4 year wait :(

I have a question for you. You said in your post below that your 485 was approved end of september 2008. But I thought the visa numbers were already exhausted by august 21 2008 for eb2 india. Are u sure you got approved in end of September 2008 and not in august, did you actually get an email end of september or your LUD on 485 was actually end of september. Please dont get me wrong, I am not questioning your sincerity, I am just trying to understand if infact some case were approved in september as well for eb2 india.

My case was originally filed at CSC and then was transferred to NSC. I got this message when NSC finally picked up my transferred case, dusted it off an (I'm guessing) input it in their system. Most likely your cases went the similar route and now they have been finally picked up by the destination center for processing.

Assuming: 140 approved and 485 filed.
Now if you use ac21 with h1, you would only get 2 yrs of extension and there after only 1 yr. (attorney said, if you have 140 approved you get 3 yrs extenion. but once you file your 485, you get the remaining time of 6 yrs or if you are in your 6th year, then you get 1 yrs extension).

I agree that retrogression problem has nothing to do with this and increasing 150% fees will not process your application 150 times faster. But atleast when we are eligible to file 485, this could take a less time than it does takes right now. Even a one month earlier processing could be very helpful. Quality of service is directly dependent on the resources available and that is dependent on the funds.
I believe this will process the pending application faster than currently it takes.

I may have to respectfully disagree with this.. Mine was approved on June 13th 2006 and my PD is current.. I have seen many EB2 with a later PD and 140 approval being approved.

Hi Shamu,
A colleague/friend of mine and his wife decided to have a home delivery. So, they contacted this nurse practitioner/midwife, who used to come to his home once a month and do all the stuff that goes along with pregnancy. They also delivered the baby at his home, which took off all the expense that are associated with a hospital delivery and I'm pretty sure the entire cost for the 9 month term was <5K (actually around 2-3K).
But I believe that was possible because it was a normal delivery with no complications.
So, if you and your wife are in the same situation as most of the people here (i.e. late 20's or early to mid 30's ) there is no reason why you would not have a normal uncomplicated delivery. So having a home delivery is an option.
I am a father of a 15 month old and felt that most of the months that we went to visit the doctor was pretty superficial. They did not tell us anything which you cannot find out from the internet or the maternity books. Who delivered my daughter in the hospital? Well a nurse did.
Also in India my wife told me that most often women don't go to the doctor unless there are issues. (For the period leading up to the delivery. For delivery they go to the doctor.)
So, for uncomplicated deliveries a home delivery could be an option, just check it out and the nurse practitioners (OBGYN variety)/midwives are fully qualified and sometimes more experienced than the doctors as that is ALL they do, they deliver babies.
So check this option if you feel it is OK.
Good luck with your insurance search.

But I am exploring options and I expect some thing will come out.

We have the AP but we were thinking that if we withdraw the H1B application, the embassy people might stamp the passport saying "Application Received" which sometimes can be a euphemism for "Visa Denied". I once got such a stamp when visa was denied to me.
Since we would then always have to keep explaining at every stage why we have that stamp, that's why we are sticking on with H1B delay. We have been given the same time-frames as you were.
When you withdrew your passport to travel on AP, did they stamp your passport with any text? Also could you please tell us the procedure you followed to withdraw your passport and whether you could collect it in person? We have been asked to email the US Embassy for withdrawing from our H1B application.
