While the thread was started on a light note, I think this is a serious topic.
Most of the people in the developed (and increasingly in the developing) countries are over-weight. I believe people are over weight, because they are not eating good food. People just follow the latest fad (in India this is oatmeal, soybeans etc. for now).
I have successfully managed my weight below 24 BMI for almost a decade now by eating good food. The key is "moderation" and eat unprocessed food as much as possible.
If you have to choose between whole milk and fat free milk, choose whole milk. If you have to choose between red rice and white rice, choose red rice. If you drink, do not drink the cheapest variety. Go for Blue label or Hennessey and drink just a peg a week. Go and eat the most expensive cut of beef and eat just an ounce of it. And for the record, I haven't found anything wrong with traditional breakfast (uppuma, puttu, dosa and what not). If you like the taste of oatmeal go for it, but once in a while.
And do not forget to do some exercise everyday. 30-40 minutes of walk, bicycling, swimming, playing some games; any thing will do.

From your post it seems your H1b transfer was denied and not H1b extension, i think you should correct the title.
If you go to company A then you will have to file H1b transfer again with company A. I think you can file an appeal in the meain time continue working for company B for 240 days (I am not sure of this but confirm with IV gurus or attorney).
I dont think this is true. Untill the company A revoked the H1 which is valid till Sep 2009, I dont think one needs to file for transfer again. Otherwise please provide the source for the same.

thanks guys for making the effort to understand my situation.
I now need a couple of clarifications:

So now, if i do change a job, i would have to use my ead and hence i would have to join as an engineer(because my understanding is, even though my current role is business development, my gc application is for an engineer role and hence any new job based on ead would have to be that of an engineer).

So even if currently you are with a company as engineer, they can file a new eb2 as business development. Because, this is application for future job, not your current job.

I've heard 2 contradicting opinions on this matter, so trying to get to the truth.
My PERM case is about to be filed, let's assume for argument sake the job description
requires Bachelors degree + 5 years of experience.
I have B. Sc. degree, the requirements completed in April 2004.
I've been with the current sponsor, who is applying for my PERM labor case for 15 months,
and without those 15 months I don't have 5 years post graduation experience, required to qualify for EB2 track ( I do have close to 10 years of experience in the field, since I worked during college and even before that, but I was told only post graduation experience counts)
If counting these 15 months with my current H1 sponsor I do have over 5 years of post graduation experience.
Two opinions I've heard:
1. You can only use the current sponsor experience, if the position, you're getting the PERM certification for is at least 50% different in it's job duties from the experience, prior to joining this sponsor.
2. There is no restriction - current sponsor experience counts for EB2 post grad. 5 years.
I'm not interested in opinions or speculations please - only what the law says. If anyone has that information - response is greatly appreciated - my PERM case is about to be filed and I don't my application to get rejected down the road because of not satisfying the EB2 track requirements.

Few things to remember
1. It is good for us if EB1 remains current for India and ROW - chance of some visa numbers trickling down.
2. The H1B cap is still 65,000 + 20,000 + some extra for non profit and a sizeable portion of this is Indians meaning other nationalities are not applying in large numbers. What this means is that the whole 45,000 EB1 and 45,000 EB2 will likely not get used from 2008-9 (by that ROW EB3 ROW will start becoming close to current and people from ROW will not try to find a way to apply for EB2 like they are doing now).
3. People will try to port their EB3 date to EB2 and some will meet success but others might fail. This will be particularly true for Indians.
Put all this together, I think any Indian who applied for GC in Eb2 or 3 post 2004 will probably have to wait the same amount of time in either category, maybe a year less in EB2. Given that you are anyway going to have to wait 7-8 years minimum, one year more or less does not make any difference.
I think people from India with post 2004 Pri dates should
a) Actively work for some meaningful legislative change, contact all your friends and make them aware of this problem, please do not just sit there and hope for a change
b) Make solid backup plans, whatever they might be - consider UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore as backups. Learn as much as you can in your present job and change jobs if you feel you are stagnating. Do not keep your career in limbo for GC when the earliest you will get it is after 7-8 years. Imagine this - if you are 25 now, you will be in your mid-thirties doing the same job if you wait for your GC.
c) Save, save, save - I cannot reiterate this, basically do not spend a dollar more than you need to. Buy a full efficient cheap car, rent a place (house prices are stagnating) etc. Do your due dilligence and post new ideas here.
d) Find a way to lobby to get back your SSN and Medicare taxes - Indian govt. is making noises about this, use your connections to make the noise louder.
e) Last but not the least, If married and planning to start family, do not wait until they change law to ban birth right citizenship :).

I have been reading in the forums that the US CIS/State Department under law is supposed to transfer all unused EB ROW numbers to the oversubscribed countries at the close of the fiscal year. Also, I have been reading that the US CIS has NOT been doing soo. If what others are saying is true, and if US CIS does what it is supposed to do then the EB China/India will not be so severly retrogressed. How about filing a lawsuit directing the US CIS to follow the law (if there is any such law)? I personally have not researched this issue, my knowledge is based on what the others are saying in the forum.

Dude - Life is too short, eat drink and be merry :p when you become 80 - even if you have 6 peck no one is going to want to look at you :D
(do some workout like fun sports (Gym is for the dedicated ones) to stay active)
Eat drink n be merry is all good. Just that you cant overdo it. O/w you will be on your way out @ 40 or worse yet, will have to deal with diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension etc. in the later part of your life. Key is to eat right and exercise. Cliched I know but I don't see too many people around sticking to this simple rule :)

There is no problem at India's end..we all know how to handle that. Also, it does matter if there are 2 bags or 1 from here. If I have 3 extra bags, then I end up paying more...rather than assuming that they will be checked in free. You pack your luggage accordingly assuming x no of bags are involved. Also, I will make sure my wife travels comfortably, that's why i am asking these questions in the first place.

Appraise your self with form wh4 and AC21 rules and then appreaise your new employer attorney. You and your new employer attorney are in good situation to take your Ex-employer for a ride. Good luck....
After 180 days I-485 is pending and I-140 is approved, your priority date remains valid even if your employer withdraws approved I-140. Basically, your ex-employer cannot stop the case, and as long as you find a new job in similar ocupation and very similar duties, you I-485 can still be approved. Read AC-21 for more information.
Suggestion: keep the employment termination letter/note/email for records for future reference.

Even in India some of the southern states dont like speaking in Hindi. In India, it is all about showing off, if your kid is here in US (as a slave on H1 B), Badi garv ki bat hai in India, dollar mein paisa banara hai na, isliye. The trend is more in AP (by the way i am from AP), where almost every family has one or more living and earning in phorein currency. As long as the native country cannot produce jobs for all (without reservations) and a decent standard of living, people will steal, lie, deceive, kill to come here to the US, and i guess they don't mind waiting for 20 yrs living as bounded slave, after all it is better here than the slum's isn't it ?

Your current salary has nothing to do with your Labor Certification. LC is for a future job offer and you are supposed to get that salary only after your I-485 approval. Hence there is nothing to worry about it.
As your current salary is per H1 LCA, you are absolutely ok and there is nothing illegal in your nonimmigrant status as well. There might have been issues during your I-485 adjudicatiion if you were not being paid per your H1 LCA, since that is considered as abuse to your nonimmigrant status.

I simply don't get it, first everyone blamed 245i cases and April 2001 deadline, we now passed this stage, I really don't see that many people from India are waiting for GC with PD 2001, so who are consuming these visas, there are only few guys from this year, most of my friends how applied during this year got their greencards
