The only question i have is, my employer though a bank, is not willing to give me a copy of my I140 WHATSOEVER. I tried numerous times and they only say that the attorney (FRAGOMEN) has advised not to give the copy of I140 to the beneficiary. With the banks you know..they may be around or shut any time.
Can you please advise, COPY OF I140 IS REQUIRED, for porting the priority date to new employer?

I had my interview on the 30th and my passport has not been delivered yet. The VFS website says that the passport has not been handed over to them as of today. I was not given any 221g slip/form and the VO told me that i should be getting my PP in 5 days, it's been a week now and VFS hasn't got the PP yet. Is there something i should be worried about? I have my return ticket booked for next weekend and i am getting a bit nervous about the whole scenario. Does anyone know if there is any other way to get in touch with the New Delhi consulate?

We were exactly in the same situation few months ago. We were told that our visas have been issued and we will get our passports within 5-7 days (no 221g at the time of the interview). After 5 days when we contacted VFS they said wait upto 7 business days. I waited and then they gave me the number of the embassy. When we contacted embassy they said that an email has been sent to me asking more documents but we did not get any emails. We asked them to resend and after 3 days of our request we got their email with a soft copy of 221g(green).
We wish that similar thing may not happen with anyone as we know the tension of going thru it.
I would suggest that you call Embassy instead of calling VFS to get the real status. VFS will just tell if they got the passport or not. They can not tell you the reason.

I thought he was just BS ing with me.Looks like he was honest. This happened in jan 2009. Even now, they are not willing to file PERM. My 6 year term expires in July 2012. I you say you are out of town on appt date do they ask for a proof?
A friend of mine went without the receipt. Only his wife had the receipt. They printed his receipt right there... Even tho his appnt was a week later they did his FP the same day... he had no problems with the security guard... I guess its just ur luck!

On reading my last post again, I don't think it is very clear. Let me try to explain again. When my wife comes back into the country, she needs to get a new I-94 at the port of entry. One of my friends mentioned that there is a possibility that the officer could mistakenly stamp the date on the new I-94 card as the same as on my wife's visa stamping (Dec 2007 as per my prior employer). In order to avoid this, should my wife pre-emptively submit her passport as well as transferred I-797 and I-539 and request the officer to stamp the new dates on the I-94 (Dec 2009)? Please advise.

Lawyer: When we get the receipt notice we will immediately submit the correct marriage certificate, till then be married to other person :)
So I guess from legality point of view its not a major issue. Hopefully none of you guys will have to go through this issue.
Another thing is that receipts for application that reached USCIS on June 28th, are reaching the law office, so hang in there for a week or two for July receipts.

Guys, I guess almost everybody is done with their finger printing by now. I am wondering what is the status of everybody's I-485 application on the case-status-online website after finger printing? Mine is showing some weird status, so I thought I better check with others.
Most people got changes on the LUD date in a short period of time after their biometrics taken, but no change in the word of status.

I have a question and this is regarding my husband.
We have filed our 485 and have got our EADs and AP's. Our 180 days will be over by jan end.
My husband works for Company (A) as a consultant. He is placed at a Client (C) and there is another consulting company (B) in between. Client (C) is a direct client of Company (B). The relationship is like A -> B -> C.
My husband wants to join the Company (B), and keeps on working for the same client (C).
Has anyone done something similar to this and can anyone share any legal issue with this. I will really appreciate if someone can guide us more.

A lot of people want to do this and have done it in past. Depends on the relationship between A and B. B would definitely prefer to have you on rolls because no one likes to deal with additional layers. Look into contract issues and obligations before you make the leap.

I'm facing a similar situation. I got the receipt from them on July 23rd but yet to receive any decision(non premium), my previous visa expires on Nov 5th. I know I could continue to work as long as I have the receipt but my DL expires next week as well. I urged my HR to do a premium processing now but he states that it's more likely to get a RFE for the premium processing which will make the process even slower and also claims that both the regular and premium processing is done by the same center (Is this true). He says that my original decision would anyways be here by mid November, so not to worry. I also have travel plans by during the Christmas holidays so getting a bit anxious with the whole thing. Is it normal to go over 3 months for a decision for a regular process? (California processing center's avg time is 2.7 months) Is it beneficial to do a premium processing now? I would appreciate a reply.
