You have a fair chance of visitor visa denial as its bot very easy for people of our age to come on visitor visa unlike F1 or H1 (I may be wrong, but I didnt any friend's brothers or sisters coming to US on this ).
Also in your caseif she is asked about your status, then chances of denial increase as intent can confuse the officer.
What will you state your Wife's status on the forms she will need to fill for 485. This can also be risky.
If its possible, its good she comes and you do the filing and then she returns back..

I recant my earlier outburst at mercies since I realize that he was acting as a messenger to the problem. Sorry for the offense mercies.
There are many people who would just run away from effort when doubts are raised and since people of afraid of being punished for just advocating a public policy or writing a letter to congress in the first place. I would request you to not reproduce posts here or on portal that would echo the material the plants fear and doubts among members. When the core group is spending 2-3 hours a day on top of their fulltime job plus the weekends, plus out of pocket expenses on travel to DC, its disheartening when a post on forum scares away sceptical members.

SpringFlower: Can u share which state/city your FP is scheduled in? I think people in crowded places like Bay area, CA get FPs later than less crowded areas.
We got FP notices for me & my wife on 01-25-08. Finger printing date is Feb 6th, 2008. Same date, same time for both of us. Just perfect!

If you want to wait 10+ years for your green card, stay at home and hide. (Retrogression will just get worse, I guarantee). If you want to change your future and get a GC one day please show up at the rally. We are there to show that we even exist, no need to do anything else. We need everyone.

That's not true. They will still process backlogged applications filed prior to the introduction of the bill. Considering the current backlog, none of the applications for FY2008 from India and China would have been considered during that period anyway. This would only matter if you were from a non-retrogressed country. As far as the points system is concerned, your priority date doesn't matter anyway as only your point score will be considered.

I tried to book tickets on makemytrip for luftansa yesterday; After going through all passport details etc- for over 2 hours checking etc the agent coolly told me that transit visa is required for advance parole holders. If you carefully see the regulations they mention "2 Years" permit not "1 year" validity of Advance parole. I also heard stories of multiple people blocked from boarding luftansa on advance parole. So i switched and booked on emirates instead. Apparently this rule is either enforced or not depends on the discretion of luftansa personel. So be carefull if you are on advance parole- Looks like germans also trying to get on the Visa Fee pie.

Nevertheless, I did not take transit visa, and with visa stamping expired in March 2010, I travelled with AP on Lufthansa from IAD to BLR in December, and returned in Jan 2011, and nobody even mentioned the word "transit" anywhere along the route. Lufthansa staff is very knowledgeable about AP, both in Wash.Dulles and BLR. In fact, In BLR I saw that even Air France also does not require transit visa for Paris and allowed people with AP to board without transit visa. So folks, dont waste time and money on transit visa. Nothing is going to happen , unless you miss your connecting flight in Frankfurt, in which case you will not get to stay in a hotel and would have to spend the transit time in the airport.

I really don't understand, what can be RFE about, as you have been with the same company all these years. You really deserve a Greencard straight away without a single question after such a Long wait. I hope your RFE is very simple to answer and I wish that you get your Greencard soon. Good Luck.

In my case I don't even know if it is namecheck that is blocking my case. So far my guess is that it was just the huge deluge of July 2 applications under which my application got stuck. But now that they have opened my application and mailed an RFE on Oct 22, at least I know that some IO is processing my case. Right now I am eagerly waiting for the RFE details. My law firm(FDBL) has not received it yet. I am pinging them every other day.
To answer another question from another poster, yes, I have been with the same company since 2001.

I practice in underserved communities, speak fluent English and pay my taxes. My visa status is and always has been legal. Do I meet the Lou standards? I am waiting in an endless line for a green card that keeps me at the bottom based on my country of birth. So much for Lou's cheap labor! Has everyone forgotten his tacit support for outsourcing in his "other professional life"?

Yeah, the Nebraska one is on the same date as last month, I guess I should count my blessings. God, what are they doing over there!? Maybe it's because it's summer time and people are going on vacation-less people, less work getting done.
I think a employee of immigration service center should get $100 bonus for completing one application. This will definitely improve their productivity.
