Most of the people affected by the July Visa bulletin are highly skilled people who have the capacity to buy houses, but are not investing in houses, since their future in US is not secure until they get Green Cards.

If Congress passes a law to give speedy Green Cards to these highly skilled people ASAP; these highly skilled people, who have good jobs and capacity to buy houses inspite of the difficult situation regarding getting loans etc, will help US tide over the current difficult housing situation.
oddly enough I was under the same impression and started a poll to see how many IV members would buy a house as soon as they got their GC. The results were very surprising:

Of almost 500 responses, 50% of people have already bought a house even without having a GC, and only 25% intend to buy a house within 6 months of getting the GC.

With all these analysis, is there any formula to actually predict when one could get the GC? I was just curious to know when I could potentially get my GC although I stopped worrying about it a very long time ago.

If case is denied due to USCIS error, MTR can be filed with out fee. when filing MTR it should clearly mention that " Service request for MTR" which implies that denails s due to erroneous decison. (Attorney filed this MTR with Subj: Service request for MTR, enclosed all documents which supports that decision is taken by error and to reconsider).

For those of you celebrating the defeat of Democrats because they sabotaged CIR due to the "path to citizenship" it's time to get real. Conservatives (both Dems and Repubs) are more than comfortable shutting the door to ALL immigrants. Don't fall into the trap of anti-immigrant legislators, don't let them turn this into a wedge issue.
Turning on the undocumented is not what we want to show to the outside, it is a losing proposition and will turn off the public.
As to what to do now, I'm puzzled. CIR is effectively dead in the US House, probably the Senate as well. The voters said loud and clear this week that they want the focus to be on JOBS not anything else like grandiose immigration legislation.
What to do now? Looks like another 2 years tacked on to the wait from my perspective :/

This type of clause is to protect employer for one year. Usually, it is not only trainig cost, it is business also.
You can seek legal protection, complain USCIS and so on. When an employee joins contracts are for 12 months, when you work on niche technology, it will be confidentiality agreement for 2-3 years, and so on. Mostly they are goodwill agreements. If you have problem in signing for this 12 months, how would you be signing technology related agreements?
I have seen business to business relationship broken due to employee running away from clients location. In the begining, even if formal training is not there, clients do compromize to bring to speed. Most of the consultant placements are business to business chains.
Do you intend to break before 12 months?
I have signed for confidentiality contracts up to 5 years, and refused to sign, when wanted not to honour contract, thereby not working for those clients.
If possible avoid troubles otherwise, you already have several suggestions.

It's normal to have non-compete clause and it is enforceable, but even non-compete clause will be hard to enforce if it sets unreasonable conditions (i.e. prohibits working for a client for more than 6 months). Also, if you sign a contract, it does not mean you are obligated to fulfill it. If contract violates US laws, it's null and void (i.e. you can sign a clause that you will be a slave for company's boss, but it does not mean company's boss can enforce it in court).

getting a masters from the US does in no way prove that US needs us more than others (in light of EB law), or we are any smarter or more capable than people who did masters or even under grad from their home country..
My argument in favor of having a separate US Masters quota is that the universities will back it to increase their dwindling enrollment and to stop some programs from dying.

I will be traveling during May to India (Bangalore) with a 3 hour layover in Frankfurt (Lufthansa). Is there anyone who has just returned through frankfurt without a transit visa?
What is confusing is that on the Indian website of Lufthansa it says that "Expired Visa with I797 extension notice accepted " Check out the last line in bold font.

They lobbied hard at DOL to allow the continuation of labor substitution. IV has tried to get DOL to eliminate labor substitution or at least make it such that the Priority date is not the labor filing date but the 140 filing date. Allow labor sub with PD = 140 filing date will solve the problem of cutting in line and getting ahead in an unfair manner. Unfortunately, the secretary of labor didnt oblige.
