Hello i am new to this forum, i am looking for some answers involving stock trading? My question is: Can i invest in stocks, mutual fund, etc. while having only a EAD(work Permit)? Do i need get permission from IRS? What do i need to do invest legally? I was thinking of investing with Scottrader.

As previously mentioned in this forum, a year back (almost) when my visa stamping had not expired I had approached the MD MVA for my license. Due to a last/first name issue in my passport they declined the DL. Now after going through the name change process in US and India and getting the court order, I re-approached the MVA. After multiple levels of screening and approvals taking full 4 hrs, finally I got my 5 year license this Thursday.
MD license rules changed and there was lack of clarity for everybody some weeks back. Now there seems to be better clarity. Having SSN and i-94 is important as I felt.
If some one is in the same boat, I hope this info helped.

One of my collegues who works for the same company and has the same priority date as myself (March, 05 EB3 ) got his GC last year. Thats the only person I know personally who got his GC out of turn. I havent heard of any other cases, so I am guessing its a pretty rare occurance.

My current visa status is I-140 approved, I-485 pending, EAD and AP approved.
I was unemployed for the past 1 year and am thinking of applying for unemployment benefits. Will this cause any problem in my I-485 application like the employment agency informing the USCIS. Is there a way that the USCIS will find that I am currently unemployed because of applying for benefits and reject my GC.

According to my knowledge both of u get should get seperate receipt copies individually for 3 different applications.
All,
I was wondering if the secondary applicant (Wife) will also be receiving a separate receipt numbers for her I-485, I-765 and I-131? She is currently on H4 and my lawyers told me that they received receipts only for me!!
Can some one please clarify this doubt?
I wanted to call USCIS to check the status of my wife's application. Before I call them I want to be sure enough that the dependents will also get receipt numbers.

I heard gossip that the USCIS agentssss (4 s because a lot of agentssss) specially delivered the GC document to his house. That is why our receipt and backlog still not clear (they too busy).;) But don't worry they know IV will protest this discrimination, so they will work really hard to help us too.:D

b) the economic downturn will be used by the the anti's to thwart any measure to help us
c) We are still very low on everyone's plate, democrats will want to get the illegals and all will use us as a pawn.
d) The trend is that the right will become hard right and left will become hard left...wait and watch.
the guys who will post bad comments, please remember that i had posted something similar when the democrats got majority and we have multiple threads singing the lords praise and showering flowers. It will be politics as usual.
We need lots of active members to make ONE strong case and keep hammering away at the lawmakers, instead we get a daily dose of self motivated threads which divide the already small group into smaller groups ((petitions, cases, class actions, EB3 Vs EB2, masters Vs 'grand'Masters etc:rolleyes:) .

Assuming original poster from India, definition of Full Time Employment is 48 hours of work per week in private sector and 44 hours of work in most public sector. Many people make mistake on this ( Completely forgetting how they slogged...:)). 5 years back one of my friend got an RFE on this... Lawyer, through his internal sources came to know that INS had problem with the note regarding 40 hours of week as they knew in India, generally Public sector remained open for 44 hours. My friend was public sector employee in India.

This is a brief summary as to what was asked,
if I am still working for the current employer, or for an intended future employer.
1. Specific Job Title
2. Duties of the offered position
3. Minimum education or training requirements
4. Start date of the employment.
5. Offered salary or wages.
Mine is EB-2 PD APRIL -04.
I did not change my employer, and all the quries asked were already answered during the labor and I-140 stage.
Did any one get similar RFE , plase let me know more in detail
My concern is why would USCIS want to know these details at this stage?
