Hi,
I recently moved from Ohio to Maryland. But Maryland DMA is saying that they can not issue Maryland driver's license based on my Ohio license BECAUSE my Ohio driver license has "non renewable/non transferable" note in it. In Ohio for all non-immigrant, they give driver's license with "non renewable/non transferable" note. Until someone gets green card, the note will be there in Ohio driver's license.
Did anyone have similar situation moving from Ohio to different state? This is strange rule in Ohio. but now if I have to get driver's license in Maryland, DMA is saying that I need to start from the beginning like fresh driver starting from driving school, certificates etc etc.
Please help.

Uptill 2001/2002 H1B transfer/extensions used to take 15 days to 1 month. Now they take anywhere between 4-8 months. You'll see once the premium I-140 comes into being. The regular I-140 will take forever. Premium processings have implications on regular processing. Basically they are discouraging people to file in regular queue.

It has been taking for ever to move. I had missed 3 times already to get it approved during the last 5 years. Lets see if it moves to 2002

One of my colleague filed his 140 in third week of March. Will update when it gets cleared.

Persistence and perserverence is the key here and it is very essential that everyone start participating actively. IV is your/our organization. IV is nothing but you and me.
Hiding behind closets and taking a back seat and remaining dormant does not help our cause, it only hinders all the hard work and effort that all the dedicated members are doing.
Remember, changes do not happen easily and one must not assume that things will happen automatically. Things can and will happen only when we make it happen and by remaining dormant we cannot achieve what we want to achieve.
We urge all the guests to become members now and join their State Chapters. We also request the dormant members, not to remain dormant and aloof. We request the fence sitters to jump the fence now.
Everyone in the community has to come forward and contribute towards the efforts.

Totally agree with the above post. I know many folks who were in your position but did not have to leave. Some found new jobs within a months time others took a bit longer. Your 140 revokation or H1b withdrawal will not be an issue since you move onto EAD or you should transfer your H1b soon. Best.

1)do you know what is the difference between the name check and background check., or is it the same thing.
2) Will getting the congressional office to follow up raise any red flag?
3) What other options to follow up, SR, multiple time, first waiting for IO, then extended check-6 months, now background check.
4)Does having two I140 mean anything in the delay

Within both posts are massive amounts of email addresses and organizations that we can all spend 5 mins a day contacting. This isn't "my idea", I'm just repeating it.
Please note that the following is meant with no offense to anyone, it is more my brainstorming how to "exploit the system" to our advantage. No matter what you say about american society, it is still a racially discriminatory one. People find the subject of immigration distasteful since a lot of immigrants (legal or otherwise) don't look like them. If they see the diversity of people in their face, it might chip away at the bias.
Why am I doing this? I've been fairly vocal criticizing the lack of diversity on this board. It was pointed out that other nationalities pick up the pace, so here I am :)
With some irony, I spent a chunk of time searching last night for associations in the states that are from my nationality background (don't hate me, I'm English). All I could find are associations regarding livestock (cows) and golf.... Gotta dig deeper!

as i said it's only purpose is to see if we can identify and match skillsets for various action itmes/iv roles/work groups. sometimes some things come up and we find great matches that way...

I was in Canada in 2001, had the approved I-797 but the consulate in Calgary refused to give me the visa stamp and asked i go back to home country to get it (Egypt)
Even though I had no US education and people who do might have a better chance, but it is still only a chance, totally dependant on the mood of the consulate officer who has every right to refuse issuing visas to third country nationals.. i don't know why anybody would risk it if they don't have to.

For the second I-140, He should have applied asking for the previous Priority date. I am not sure about this, but if there is a way to get previous Priority date of Dec-2002 on the EB2 (NEW I-140). Then s/he would be current (assuming India, China).

In order to work with Y, i have to get stamped first then only pay stubbs are generated. This was the understanding, when owner of Y ,company Y Attorney and myself were in the conference call discussion.
Basically the H-1B with company Y required Change of Status (COS). I am not familiar with this type of situation - whether you can get change of status done in USA or not. If not I think this is a case, which requires Visa to be stamped in home country.
Could somebody throw more infromation on this? Thanks

RFE issued on May, 11th.
My lawyer has not received a letter yet, but I have kept him in the loop.
