Does anyone know if you can file for I-485 on a B1/B2 or do you need to have an H4 status?
It seems to me, you are on a B1/B2 and are contemplating a marriage to a "485 current" green card benfeciary...and subsequently filing the 485 jointly with your would be other half...
The intention in a B class visa is very weak and its purpose very limited. It is best to not do anything while on the B visa, and relinquish the B status, then either re-enter on a stronger intent visa (H1/H4 or L1) and then file 485 or file the 485 from outside the country.
Any change of status from a B class visa is usually looked upon with a frown by the USCIS...
Even if you are not contemplating a marriage, but are already married for long but just happen to be in the US on a B Class visa, it is best to reliquish your B status, before doing anyting...

I have traveled many times on AP and not once was I asked about EAD/797. That said, there is no strict rules. Maybe you can keep a copy of the above documents and explain why you lost the originals.

I have just gone thru March recording of IV lawyer call and the below caught my attention. Ms Susan mentioned that any company name change after I140 approval has to refile I 140. I am utterly confused as that particular scenario affect me and i would like to know what best course of action i can take at this point.
I filed LC and I 140 with company A
My I 140 got approved
Before i filed my I 485 my company changed its name
I asked my attorney at that time if we need to take any special action
Attorney said they can just add an amendment while applying for I 485 about name change and apply with approved I 140, which is with old company name.
I and my wife work on EAD for past 3 years and i am still employed with same company. I wonder which one of above attorney is correct and what i should do.

As we all know that getting a GC in US is next to impossible with dates getting retrogressed to Jan 1 2000 and no sign or indication of it getting better in near future I'm strongly thinking to apply through AINP program for Canada immigration.
I truly believe that the comments and suggestions posted on this forum are very genuine, latest and by expert and experienced people. Believing this I am expecting all pros/cons of going ahead with Canada immigration.
If anyone had done this then please share ur exp and thoughts. The asking fees by the Attorneys is too high and that doesn't includes Canadian Govt. fees. So please suggest on this.

In our FP - they circled only 485 and we got an lud on 485 ...nothing changed on 765. waiting for the 90 days to schedule an infopass

The date you sign the form has nothing to do with the date USCIS receives your application packet.
if we sign 28th june , it will be considered 1st july filing ?

applied June 27th( NSC ), still no FP..
Called them yesterday..the lady said that we need to wait for a 102 more days before they can consider this an issue :eek:
basically, there is no time period for FP , if we dont get EAD in the time frame then we call and ask. That's what the lady suggested.
we need to track if it happening to a lot of people.
