So what I want to know from anyonewho knows is can we boot from one of the other 3 HDD's,and then, with the Quadro FX 4500, play some wicked PC games. Or are we there yet, should I just keep saving until all of the cool stuff is ready (CS3, PC games, nasty graphics capabilities).

I was maybe 300 in a line of 500+ at Willow Bend Mall. Waited 5 hours, got to spot 50 from the door, and they ran out.
The sad thing was the lack of information being provided by Apple to us waiting in line. There were maybe 150 in line still when they clearly ran out. The line sat unmoving for about 45 minutes when news was finally announced that they ran out. I don't understand why they had us stand there for 45 minutes to tell us they were sold out?
During past launches, Apple passed out free water, or took inventory counts against the people waiting in line. This time nothing from Apple but a bunch of Apple employees that had no idea how much inventory they had until they were all out.
I don't know why they didn't allow pre-reservations, either, this time around.
So this launch, in my opinion, was a little wild and disorganized compared to launches of days past.
They passed out water at Willowbend at least at the front of the line.

well.. I was a sucker hoping for an authentic kit. My wife really wanted a white iphone, and I bought this kit to convert a regular one as an x-mas gift.
Apple has nothing to worry about. These pieces are not from Apple.. they're friggin plastic. Filing a dispute with paypal and my CC now.

I agree; It's way too easy for people with bad intentions to know the best times to break into your home.
You are only sharing your location information with people in your facebook friends list, so if you have people on your friends list that want to break into your house than you have more serious issues to deal with than the new "Places" feature. ;) I would start deleting all those criminals from your friends list right away! :p

Does anybody else beside me think the launch titles suck?
I was gonna pre-order the 3DS but I don't like any of the games. I'd be buying some random game just to try out a $250 piece of hardware.
Yes... They do.
If it wasn't for the fact that the store is offering a trade up policy for my dsi xl for €110 as opposed to €260 then I would not be getting one at this time.
But with the reduction in price / trade up for me it makes better sense to get one now whilst this offer is open than wait 6 mnths for more games and have to pay full price for the 3ds hardware.

Apple is coming up with an update of their production suite this January.
Adobe can keep trying, I don't think that they are getting even close...

They wouldn't lose ALL online sales, just the ones from certain zip codes where it believes fraud is high.
There are more iPhones, Macs, etc. sold here than anywhere in the world. There is a reason why Apple has so many stores here. iPhones are more prevalent here than anywhere.

If you survived reading that entire installment, I commend you.
If you have reached the end without reading the middle, that is quite fine, just give your advice on how to talk to women.
the most common trait that women look for (so i have been told) from a first impression is self confidence. Walk proud (not cocky), smile (genuinely) and own your surroundings (look comfortable). Dress approriately, being well kept and neat.
You say you have a friend that doesnt know about Macs, so bring him to the store, and make sure that she notices you informing him about the benefits of a mac, not in a cocky way like some do, but rather in a way that will make him want to switch. If she notices this, you now have a common interest. Thats assuming that she enjoys working be at the Apple store, but it is a pretty safe bet considering most mac employees do.
When she walks by you, forget something about the product you are describing to your friend, and ask her to take it from there. Making her feel important for something other than her physical attributes is key.
Praise her for her help and that fact that she is well informed. Make sure she knows that her intervention changed a decision or outlook. Everyone wants to be influential in some way.
Hopefully by then, you can steer the conversation towards finding another reason that you two should run into each other again. That DOES NOT mean to ask her out or for her number, but rather find out when they have a good class going on, when coincidentally she is working. Humble yourself, and take a iMovie class or two if it results in you bumping into her again.
If you do get a chance to talk to her again, BE CREATIVE! Send her an instant message on iChat from across the store... save her from a masked man robbing the store at gun...., well you get the picture.
Lastly, Dont get to into detail in this post... there is a possibly she or one of her co-workers cruises the macrumors forums, and she could find this really creepy or really cool :D
I sincerely apologize if I have repeated anything that someone else has said
but I think its really cool that you reached out to a community that usually deals with computer questions. :D

Everything I've been reading is saying that it is the riders and not the actual budget that some GOP members are holding out on. It is more about cutting off PPH then the actual budget reduction...

I agree. When I'm holding my iPod horizontally, I usually always rest my thumb over home button.
And speaking as someone that used an EVO4G (lapse of judgement :P) with capacitance buttons, its not a fun experience... Way too easy to accidentally hit them. Plus, you need that home button for all the resetting and jailbreaking ;)

Honestly, I never understood what was so frightening about talking to girls and trying to get a date, especially when it's someone you are just meeting and may never or rarely ever see again.
It can only go one of three ways: she could say yes and go on the date, say no but just be friends, or say hell no altogether.
No offense, but don't be such a chicken ****, just ask her!
Need a not-so-cheesy line that usually works for me? Say "I'm not usually this straightfoward, but you seem like a really interesting person and I was kind of hoping to get to know you better. Would you maybe like to go to [insert local place of interest here] with me on [available day of week] night?"
All your questions will be answered when she responds, then you can sulk or strut all the way home (depending on her response, of course). :)

No he didn't. Serves the ****er right. I read he was booed when he arrived. Obama killed and Seth Meyers was pretty funny. Videos below.

Obama had some great lines, not sure if they were all written for him or if he is naturally funny but the jokes were good for a president.

If people are less likely to use a cashier who is an ethnic minority (which I dispute, but anyway), would that make them less productive and less valuable for their employer?
So, if it is thought that an ethnic minority would actually do a job worse, because of other people's discrimination, then ethnicity technically would make a difference to their ability to do a job.
Would this be grounds for not employing them?
no, that would be discrimination against them because of their race/ethnicity.....the fact that other people also might contribute additional discrimination doesn't negate or justify the employer's racial discrimination

Why don't they just use existing standards? RTSP, H.264/MPEG4 video and bonjour. There. No licensing required.
But no.
Apple pulls the "standards compliant" flag out of their asses only when it suits them. Boo.
Apple is all for open standards...except when they are not.

I'm sorry Dave, I cannot authorize the purchase of those cookies because the cholesterol content is in direct conflict with the Crestor you have been prescribed - by the way -
did you know that (insert any paid advertiser here) CVS Pharmacy can save you money by switching you to an approved generic?
The fat content also concerns me because the last pair of pants you bought was one inch greater in the waist than your previous purchase.
May i recommend the (insert any paid promotional product here) Cheerios.

Maybe not for you, but it will for me, and probably a lot of other folks as well.
Once I have a decent method of getting my movies from my computer to my TV (i.e. iTV), and iTunes has more selection, I plan on never buying another DVD again. I'm in the minority here I'm sure, but for how long? How long before digital distribution is the method of choice for your average Joe?
My point is that their (Wal-Mart/Target) concerns are valid, but they're still just whining about it because they're scared of competition. Why isn't Wal-Mart whining and complaining about the Music Store? Oh... That's right, because they have one of their own.
Ok, point taken. You do agree with me that they are whining though. I do not believe that there will be a large market of people that stop buying DVDs because they can now download them. Maybe there will be, it just does not make sense to me.
