Nuke bill was an agreement between two nations - India and USA - hence Indian govt had a legtimate interest to lobby for it. Lobbying to change the immigration laws of a sovereign nation by a foreign govt is another cup of tea altogether, and will definitely give a bad name to our cause. You have seen what happened when Vincente Fox lobbied for CIR: even americans who were otherwise sympathetic to CIR were hostile to the idea of a foreign head of state telling them what to do with their immigration laws, and quite understandably so. This is a dead horse anyways - what is the point of flogging it further ?

The emails are sent only when there is a status change not for updates and the delays in the emails are at least at this time due to the fact that they are not updating the status immediately but mailing the documents first.

You are not the only one to get that message. Info pass appointments are tough to get now. Check during odd hours. I finally found one after hours. ASC's are NOT the same as Field offices. Also Some Field offices require you to show the corresponding state drivers license.
Since my current EAD is expiring Sep 10th, I'm planning to go to the local USCIS office for an interim EAD in first week of Sep.
What is the procedure, do i need to take infopass or any other apoointment or just walk in with papers ?
It's not yet been 90 days since i filed, but i still want to give it a shot. I plan to take a letter from my employer saying without interim EAD (without me being able to work) company would face a setback in a critical phase of project.
I also plan to use such a letter in support of an expedite request.
Gurus please advice:
- How soon should I fax expedite request?

- Could one interfere the other?

First - she files the F-2 and H-4 applications, not you. She can only request a change to H-4 status after you activate your H-1B, if it approved as a notify as explained above. If the employer is filing as an automatic change of status, she should request the H-4 change with you. She will not be eligible for F-2 status after your F-1 ends.

IMHO, Any one will not get the accent because of training. One will come closer to the accent only over time. How ever, it will never be perfect.
On the flip side, why would any Highly Skilled Immigrant working in American companies want to learn "accent" off of work. Their work place offers a lot than the website suggested.

This "document" is only valid in SC. May take up to 60 days to re-issue my SC DL card. I'm a professional electronic engineer and my work requires to travel outside the SC state. Why do I need to be punished? Just because I am a foreigner! This is an interesting story where the SC and other states illegal Immigration Reform Act is affecting legal immigrants very badly. Is all about illegal immigrants or there is a growing xenophobia in the USA? If you are a foreigner but legally in this country you are consider guilty until proven innocent? Or all immigrants are consider illegal?

You can appeal the decision and other stuff to get temporary repreive. But its your decision. Say if your GC gets denied for criminal past or for failing one of the rules set up then whether you are on AOS or H1-B it is pretty much end of story for you. The only advantage you have being in H1 is you get time to wrap up your stuff in US leasurely till your H1 is valid because I am sure by the time your GC is denied you will also have exhausted your 6 years on H1 and so your next H1 extension will also get denied. There is nothing you can do in case of criminal past to negate it. If AOS is denied for 140 related issues yes there is a second chance. But the decision is entirely yours

If 3600 have been approved, then between 7200 and 9000 numbers have already been consumed based on an average of 2 or 2.5. Take your pick. We have only completed 4 business days in August. At this rate we'll blow through the 20,000 numbers in less than ten days. That means EB2 becomes U in Sept and it makes 2006 approvals look even more egregious.

It's possible, but you need to marry first, then file I-130. After I-130 is approved, you can ask USCIS to use your I-130 as underlying visa petition for I-485. Keep in mind that I-130 AOS gives you only conditional permanent residency, after 21 months you need to apply for a regular GC.
