Got EAD Card for all of us in a span of 3-5 days. My son got 1 year EAD (10yrs old) but me and my wife got 2 years EAD. Any way happy that I can claim 300$ tax rebate for my son and get SSN for him also..

I said in my earlier post that I will think about it. This is what I have to say.
There are things that can be measured in single dimension say on x-axis. Say you have to buy a car and you have to ask yourself a question � which car do I like to buy? Say you like Honda as compared to other cars. Your likeability of Honda or such cars could be measured on the positive side of the x-axis and likewise, if you don�t like some car, that can be measured on the negative side on the x-axis. Now, there could be another dimension to the situation, say, what is the car model in question, if it is a civic or maybe accord, accord, CRV, Odyssey, Element or whatever. Now if you ask yourself that question again � which car do I like? This time you need two dimensions to answer the question which Honda model you like and which you don�t like. Foe the sake of clarity you can do this on the X&Y-axis. But say if there is a choice of multiple colors. You would have to now think/plot a 3-dimention model, say a cube, because you may like a model of Honda in one color but you may not like the same color in another model. Now there could be other combinations, say which year make or whether it is a sedan/coupe or the cost factor or resale value, mileage, new/old, dealership, goodies, experience of your friends/well-wishers etc. etc. etc. So there could be multiple dimensions analysis to answer a 7 word question - which car do I like to buy?
The reason I say this is, even situations which otherwise seem simple require multiple dimensions of analysis. And there could be many more dimensions that we do not know or we do not understand. But say, you ignore all dimensions to every situation, and judge every situation in a single dimension analysis - whether or not you like something or not? If you don�t like it, that something has to be wrong. If you like it, that something is right. It can be easily identified on the x-axis. Simple, isn�t it. Life would be so much easier; it would be so much fun.
But here is the problem. With single dimension analysis of every situation, we will all be wrong most of the time. Since our childhood, maybe that�s why we were sent to school to get educated so that we could gain the knowledge & wisdom which could help us to apply more than one dimension to every situation and we could gain the ability to evaluate and analyze things around us �intelligently� � in multi-dimension.
Your single dimension analysis of -ve comments situation is, you don't like them and that's why the entire system HAS to be wrong. You see what I am saying.
It�s ok to express in the any forum and if you don�t like a forum, as in this case you don�t like reputation system, you have the choice to totally ignore it and not look at it at all. But you chose to look at the reputation system maybe because you continue to be mindful of your reputation on the anonymous forum, but then you continue to complain about the existense of the red dot system. It�s the choice you make. And then you apply single dimension analysis � if you don�t like a comment, there is something wrong with the guy who posted a negative comment and the reputation system and the IV and everyone around us. And because you are not happy, you think it is ok to curse everyone saying that the entire immigration system cannot be fixed because IV has reputation system. You know, I have to tell you, you are pretty good.
The reason I say all this is, I have fundamental difference with the folks who do not like reputation system but continue to look at it and complain about it, even when they have the choice not to look at the reputation system. The problem doesn�t end there. Every week there is someone complaining about the reputations left for that guy, and I just have an intellectual disagreement with that behavior. And I do not have anything against you or anyone else, I am sure you are a good man with a kind heart.

Good points Sanju we should weigh the +s and the -s of the rep system, however you are missing the core of the complaints. Which is that people giving reds are usually (though not always) doing it as a personal attack (you suck, F*'s etc.), whereas every green that one receives is usually on subject matter (I have not seen a "you stud"!! kind of +ve reps ;) ).
Also, what it wrong for people to complain about the system? If people have the right to give reds, why shouldn't the forum be allowed to complain about it? And if the popular opinion is against it, then the system can be dismantled.
At both ends (the extreme left and the right) it is always "my way or the highway". Neither one recognizes that there are people with different view points, and that everyone should be given an opportunity to air their own views (live a life of their choosing etc.).

We need to call for unity ask people to come out and support this initiative.
We got to do somthing. Enough is enough. Think of all high skilled workers not going to work for a day what kind of impact that will have? What kind of awareness that will create? I am ready to give up one day worth of pay for this. Anyone else?
Well, even before Indian independence, it was just a handful of population that were actively involved in the process, majority took life as it came and were afraid. In fact, there are a lot of coward stories where cowards helped the British against freedom fighters. The reason British could rule India so easily because desis are submissive and it took a long time for leaders like Mahatma Gandhi to lay a foundation and gather critical mass enought o bring about a change and the worst thing is - the only change that happened was that British govt moved out. 60 years after independence, we are still divided mentality, lack of civic sense, we claim greaatness in getting IT and BPO projects, we could not win a gold medal in Olympics nor could we make any big scientific achievement - the worst thing is we come here to US and stay divided and expect that someone will do good to us

Agree, also Immigration voice needs everyone to join in their cause and support them as Donors and in active volunteering.
New GC applicants generally realize the only way to get relief is through legislative change that Immigration voice is working on.
So rather than wasting time & energy guessing dates, its a good idea to spare 3 bucks a day from coffee for IV and actively campaign for new laws.
BTW the prediction was 1-2 weeks of movement each month for all of 2011, and possibly zero movement sometimes. New Math formulas ,modelling, arent going to change it.
Just look at how many Bills are coming in for Illegal immigration - that is due to active lobbying and generous support of their members.

This is my first post so forgive if I am not in the right place,
But I have situation where in I need your inputs to decide.
I am working at a clients place and they willing offer me a full time position.
My Labor is approved Oct 2007 and Filed for I-140 receipt pending.
In this situation should I change my job or should I wait for I 140 to be approved or wait till I apply for I 485 , but as you know the priority dates have retrogressed for EB2 and I heard that they will be unavailable shortly.
I always wanted to get a full time right from my Masters but ended up as a consultant as I had to get my H1 done.
Please Advice!

According to the AILA, approximately 40,000 visas remain in all employment-based categories, other than EW, for FY2007, according to its sources, and that the USCIS has far more than 40,000 adjustment applications in the backlog queue that are ready for approval, not to mention the additional numbers which will be consumed in concular immigrant visa processing. It is thus possible that the cap may reach within a short period in July, even though no one can predict it until after July 2, 2007. The USCIS at this time does not have any policy announced with reference to July 2007 I-485 filings which are filed after certain date in July when the total number is exhausted. However, considering the fact that the USCIS currently rejects the "Other Worker" category I-485 applications even though June 2007 Visa Bulletin show current for certain applicants because the "other worker" category quota was exhausted on June 5, 2007. This raises a serious concern because as we reported earlier today, the USCIS appears to be picking up the speed of processing of backlog I-485 applications in anticipation of flood of July 485 applications. The USCIS hands may be tied, should the EB visa numbers for FY 2007 is exhausted before the end of July.
The situation is particularly critical because of the USCIS decision not to accept the I-485 filings without the medical report. AILA demanded leniency but the USCIS reportely refused to accept such demand. Since medical report is "initial evidence" to I-485 filing, under the recent rule change, any I-485 filing with the medical report can be rejected or denied. Reports indicate that there are a huge backlog in scheduling medical examination in most of the areas in the country.

That is one of the points raised in this current letter campaign for admin fixes.

Does that means that the existing backlog will be cleared fast?
Specter agreed this morning with Kennedy's approach, provided that these illegal immigrants would not be able to start legalization proceedings until the backlog of 3 million people now waiting in countries around the world for their chance to come to the United States legally get their green cards.
Any comments or thoughts on this is highly appreciated.

It's 180-days validity. Good for those with H1 or L1 but not for others, who doesn't wish to apply I-140 without their PD being current.

As long as your orig employer does not complain(which i hardly doubt anyone will do) you are fine, worst case scenario if someone does, then its not a big hurdle to cross with an able attorney's help.
Just to put your mind at ease, i have several friends(not friend-of-a-friend) who had quit at various intervals (1-2-3 months) after getting their GC's and haven't faced a single issue while in process of becoming a citizen.
In short its better to be safe than sorry so these attorneys suggest staying for atleast 180 days.
If that is the case, then why is it that all immigration attorneys are asking us to stay with our current employers citing this "Intent" thing? Are you saying that it's all smoke and no fire?

you mean there is no freedom in India??? 80-90% of the indians who have H1 have not attended college in US and do you think these people are not educated and knowledgeable. I think you should grow up man... or might be when you get sick and get admitted in hospital and your insurance doesn't cover... you realize the importance of India...
